Of course though, my next machine? Full probing package is an absolute must-have. You can't do the in-process probing, you can't automate setups, you can't do a lot of the neat coordinate rotation/scaling trickery of a full probe package, but damn if it doesn't improve setup efficiency and accuracy.
For $600 (Haimer + Dedicated Holder + Edge Tech Height Gauge), you get 85% of the capabilities of a full probe/tool-setter for 1/10th the price. PCNC 440 Assembly is available for 1,195. A Tormach professional installs, aligns, and tests major components, allowing you to quickly commission you machine once it arrives. Even for a fat fingered Noob like myself. But we recognize the demand for turn-key machines so that's why we offer machine assembly as an add-on service. Having said that - it's idiot proof, accurate, and wicked fast to set up work with. They do no service in the US - it's all ship it back to the motherland and 6+ week wait times.
I bought mine of of Amazon, and their response? Buy a new one off of Amazon (out of pocket $600+ for the BT30 integrated version) and swap it for the bum one and return it to Amazon for a refund.
I have a Love/Hate relationship with my Haimer, mostly because mine leaked (so much for the IP67 rating printed on the dial) and Haimer service is atrocious.
